His Excellency President Donald Ramotar and U.S. Ambassador D. Brent Hardt will, this morning, deliver remarks at the launch of a Financial Crimes Stakeholder Meeting sponsored by the U.S. Embassy, the British High Commission, the Canadian High Commission, and the European Union Delegation in Guyana. The Stakeholder Meeting will bring together key government, private sector, and international stakeholders to review Guyana’s ongoing efforts to enhance its capacity to combat financial crimes.
To successfully combat financial crimes, stakeholders must work together to uphold international financial best practices and proceed proactively in a result oriented fashion. Collective action — on the part of governments, the private sector, and civil society — is essential in developing the vigilance to detect signs of transnational crime.
The close-door event, which will briefly be opened to the media, is slated to be held at the Grand Coastal Hotel, East Coast Demerara.
