PRESIDENT Donald Ramotar has extended congratulations to President-elect of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro on his victory at Sunday’s elections in Venezuela.
In his congratulatory message, President Ramotar said he looks forward to working with President Maduro to preserve the excellent relations that both Guyana and Venezuela have enjoyed in recent years and to promote the further enhancement of our bilateral programme of cooperation for the mutual benefit of our peoples. President Ramotar also wished Maduro every success as he embarks on the mandate entrusted to him to consolidate existing economic and social policies for the sustained development of his country and for the ultimate betterment of the people of Venezuela.

Following is the text of President Ramotar’s congratulatory message that was sent yesterday to President-elect Nicolas Maduro:

‘Excellency’,
I extend heartfelt congratulations to you on behalf of the Government and people of the Republic of Guyana and on my own personal behalf on your election to the Presidency of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
I wish you every success as you embark on the mandate entrusted to you to consolidate existing economic and social policies for the sustained development of your country and for the ultimate betterment of the people of Venezuela.
I look forward to working with you to preserve the excellent relations that our two countries have enjoyed in recent years and to promote the further enhancement of our bilateral programme of cooperation for the mutual benefit of our peoples.
