THE BRIAN Allen steward Roraima Bikers Club (RBC) last Wednesday joined forces with Caribbean International Distributors Incorporated, to organize a 10 race cycle programme around the Sea Wall bandstand tomorrow. The event is being dubbed the ‘Blue Water’ Cycle race meeting and will pedal off at 10:00hrs with attractive cash prizes up for grabs, following the handing over of the cheque to Allen, by CID’s Area Supervisor Ryan Chung.
The feature race for the day will be a 30 laps event that is open to all cyclists and carries cash prizes of $12,000, $9,000, $7,000, $5,000, $4,000 and $3,000 to the top six finishers in that order respectively, along with 10 sprint prizes at $1,000 each.
Alanzo Greaves, Jude Bentley, Walter Grant-Stuart, Paul DeNobrega, Raynauth Jeffrey, Orville Hinds, Robin Persaud, Michael Anthony and Wazim Gafoor are some of the cyclists expected to compete and outlined below is a list of the day’s event with cash prizes in brackets:
12-14 years/Juveniles/ Females (3 laps) ($4,000, $3,000 and $2,000) Juniors / Cat 4 and Categories 1 to 3, 5 laps each ($5,000, $3,000 and $2,000), Veterans Under-50 and Over-50, 5 lap races ($5,000, $3,000 and $2,000).
Win and out open 8 laps ($5,000, $3,000 and $2,000), Points Race Open ($6,000, $4,000 and $3,000) Mountain Bikes and BMX Open will carry the same prizes of $4,000, $3,000 and $2,000 each to the top three finishers, with the laps being 5 and 3 respectively.
