Confessed burglar fined $50,000

AKEEM Booker (no address given) pleaded guilty to a charge of break and enter and larceny before Magistrate Judy Latchman yesterday.

He admitted that, between Monday, April 1 and Tuesday, April 2, at East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, he broke and entered the dwelling house of Audrey Daniels and stole two belts valued $6,000, two caps worth $3,000 and a $19,000 silver band.
Police Corporal Jomo Nichols, prosecuting said, the virtual complainant had secured her home, with the articles intact and went to the National Park, also in the city, on April 1.
She returned about 01:00 hr on April 2 and discovered that a door had been tampered with and the things missing.
Booker was fined $50,000 with the alternative of six months imprisonment.
