Alleged escapee also on larceny charge refused bail

RAWLE Wallace, 40, of Lot 705 East Ruimveldt, Georgetown faced two charges before Magistrate Judy Latchman yesterday.

One charge said, on Friday, January 4, at East La Penitence Police Station, being in the lawful custody of Inspector Black, pending investigation into a simple larceny, he escaped.
The other allegation against the defendant, to which he also pleaded not guilty, said, between Thursday, December 20 and Monday, December 24, he stole one tent, a quantity of clothes, shoes, hangers, a case of Carib beer and a case of Stag beer, making a total loss of $83,500 to Michelle King.
Police Sergeant Vishnu Hunt, prosecuting, stated that the defendant, who was apprehended on April 4, is a fl0.ight risk and may not return for trial if granted bail.
Wallace was remanded to prison until May 10.
