ANDREW Baveghems, of Lot 120 New Road, La Penitence, Georgetown appeared in court yesterday on a charge of narcotic possession.
Particulars of the offence said, on April 3, in the city, he had 10 grammes of cannabis (marijuana).
He pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Judy Latchman but Police Sergeant Vishnu Hunt, prosecuting, said the defendant was found with the prohibited substance after his motor vehicle was stopped and searched.
Attorney-at-law Mr. Adrian Thompson argued, though, that Baveghems was not the driver of the vehicle and made an unsuccessful bail application.
However, the court upheld an objection to the grant by the prosecutor, who said the only other person in the vehicle was a woman who occupied the passenger seat.
Baveghems was remanded to prison until April 24.
