THE Georgetown Mayor and City Council (M&CC), at its most recent statutory meeting, took a decision to suspend receipts for the sale of spots on the seawall for Easter Monday, April 1.
When the issue to suspend the sale of spots on the seawall was put to the council for a vote, seven councillors voted in favour while six voted against.
In a press release, the City Council said it is of the view that the seawall area is in a precarious and unsafe state.
According to the release, the M&CC believes that as a “responsible” municipality, it should not offer for sale
spots along the seawall road nor give its permission to anyone who wishes to vend in this section of the city.
Boulders, bricks and other materials have been placed in sections the council would normally allocate to persons who are desirous of doing business on that day.
