Police probing three separate fatal accidents

POLICE are investigating three fatal accidents which claimed the lives of three men between Sunday and yesterday, at Tain, Berbice; at Bee Hive, East Coast Demerara; and in Georgetown. In the first fatal accident, police said that at about 20:50hrs on Sunday, March 24, at Tain Public Road, Corentyne, Sase Narine, 50, of Section ‘A’, Bloomfield, Corentyne was killed.
Investigations revealed that Narine was driving along the roadway when it is alleged that while overtaking a line of vehicles, he lost control of his car and ended up in a trench. He was taken to the Port Mourant Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
A post-mortem performed on Monday on the body of Narine gave the cause of death as asphyxia due to drowning.
 
In the second fatal accident, police said that at about 21:30hrs on Sunday, March 24, at Bee Hive Public Road, East Coast Demerara, motorcyclist Denishram Prashad, 34, of Unity, Mahaica, ECD lost his life.
Investigations revealed that the driver of motor truck GJJ 5901 was proceeding along the roadway when it is alleged that while overtaking a line of vehicles he struck down the motorcyclist. The driver of the truck fled the scene.
Denishram Prashad was taken to the GPHC where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

In the third  accident, police reported that at about 08:00hrs yesterday, at Mandela Avenue and the Houston bypass, Georgetown, Royston Smith, 53, of Northeast La Penitence, Georgetown was killed.
Investigations revealed that the driver of motor lorry GJJ 3745 had stopped at the traffic lights as he was proceeding along the Houston bypass. Smith was in a wheel chair soliciting alms from motorists when he is reported to have fallen out of the wheel chair and into the path of the motor lorry which moved off as the traffic light changed to green.
 Smith was run over by the lorry and was taken to the GPHC where he succumbed.
Police investigations are in progress in all three of these fatalities.
