WORK is proceeding apace on the rehabilitation of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church at Bartica, on the Essequibo River. The workers are on schedule to do the rebuilding in First Avenue, Bartica, Father Malcolm Rodrigues reported in an invited comment, at the site, on Tuesday.
He told the Guyana Chronicle that employees of the contractor are filling a base for the floor, after which the concrete casting will be done.
The priest said installation of the walls and windows for the office would follow, as well as other parts of the new structure.
Explaining that residents have supported the project, he said there is a call for more donations to purchase flooring tiles.
Among the donors were international Catholic agencies in Germany.
Rodrigues said the rehabilitated ground level edifice will be 125 feet by 60 feet, and is expected to afford worshippers more comfort.
