FREDSON De Arauja Francelino, 27, Gessica Samara Dos Santos Silva Francelino, 19, and Joveneide Mendes Dos Santos, 14, (no addresses given) appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman yesterday, facing individual immigration charges. They all pleaded guilty to the offences, particulars of which alleged that, between Saturday, August 25, 2012 and Tuesday, March 19, 2013, in Georgetown, with intent to defraud, they conspired with person or persons unknown to alter the date on Guyana Immigration entry stamps.
It was further charged that, on Tuesday, March, 19, 2013, at Ogle, East Coast Demerara, with intent to defraud, they uttered to Constable John Simon, Brazilian passports in favour of themselves, with forged dates on Guyana entry stamps.
Police Sergeant Vishnu Hunt, prosecuting, said the defendants, being Brazilian nationals, entered Guyana on August 25, 2012, at the Cheddi Jagan International airport and were granted three months stay.
They went into the interior and, on returning March 19 at Ogle Airport, it was observed, by an immigration officer, that the arrival stamps were altered to show 25-11-2012. However, it was confirmed by the Immigration Office, that the defendants came into the country on 25-08-2012 and not on 25-11-2012.
Attorney-at-law Ms. Kamini Parag represented the defendants who were fined $120,000 each.
