Maintaining community environment… : Digital Technology donates brush-cutter to Grove/Diamond NDC

THE Digital Technology Diamond branch has donated a brush-cutter costing $200,000 to the Grove/Diamond Neighbourhood Democratic Council (NDC), East Bank Demerara, to be used for maintaining the community environment. The donor’s sales supervisor, Mr. Andre Raymond, presented the machine to the NDC overseer, Mr. Parmanand Babulall, at the NDC’s temporary location, the Diamond Community Centre, last Friday in an effort to promote community building.

Minister in the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development, Mr. Norman Whittaker, who was also present, said the gesture was commendable, and he hoped it would encourage other like-minded corporate enterprises to get on board and collaborate for the development of the community.

He declared it a perfect example of the kind of partnership desirable between local government and the private sector, as it allows more community development and tells a story that the latter is increasingly seeing collaboration with the NDC as a civic responsibility.

The Minister expressed confidence that the company’s action will serve as an incentive to the NDC to carry out its duties effectively.

Meanwhile, overseer Babulall said the NDC will use the brush-cutter to maintain the compounds of the dozen schools, the police station, health centre, fire station, and streets and parapets under its purview.

Raymond said Digital Technology is pleased with the work of the NDC, and plans to continue supporting it. The company also intends to help the NDC with technological support.
