Christians said to be offended by programme on RCA

CHRISTIANS across the Essequibo Coast and Pomeroon are said to be offended by a programme aired on RCA Television Station Monday night by the Central Islamic Organisation of Guyana (CIOG) which allegedly attacked the Holy Bible and the Lord Jesus Christ. Reports said the programme, which was prerecorded and presented by an overseas-based Muslim scholar, attacked the Christian religion and the Bible in such a manner as to destroy Christianity.
“It was terrible to listen to someone of another religion destroying Christ, the son of God’s teachings and Christianity,” said some Christians.
“It’s unbelievable that such thing can happen in a country where followers of the three main religions have every right to worship freely,” said another Christian.
Pastor Rocky Prabhulall of the Voice of Faith Miracle Ministries Church at Devonshire Castle, Essequibo Coast, said the ‘cruel way’ the Holy Bible and the teachings were destroyed by the Muslim scholar has left Christians thinking if Muslims really know the true meaning of love and how to apply the meaning of love thy neighbour.
The pastor is calling on the Ethnic Relations Commission (ERC) to intervene and investigate the vexing problem and for the CIOG to apologise publicly to the Christian community for attacking Christianity, the Holy Bible and the life and teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Pastor Rocky said the police at Anna Regina Station were called and informed about the programme while it was being aired. He said the RCA Studio was also called  and it was learnt that the programme was paid for by the Muslim organisation.
The pastor is calling on all Christians to take a strong stand on the issue and to let their voices be heard. (Rajendra Prabhulall)
