Property owner charged with threatening tenants

A PROPERTY owner appeared in court yesterday, on charges of threatening his tenants, behaving disorderly at the Kitty Police Station, and assaulting a policeman. Noel Cromwell, of 26 Dowding Street, Kitty, Georgetown, pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Judy Latchman to all the offences.
The allegations against him were that, on March 18, he threatened Yolanda Carrington, causing a breach of the peace, did the same to Rodwell Fraser, behaved in a disorderly manner at the station, and while there, unlawfully assaulted an officer acting in execution of his duties.
Police Corporal Renetta Bentham, prosecuting, had objected to bail, telling the Court that the defendant threatened to kill the virtual complainants, and if he secured the grant, it is likely he would attack the virtual complainants.
But Cromwell claimed he confronted Carrington because she altered the contract he gave her and changed the date for paying the rent.
Carrington, who was also charged with using abusive language to Cromwell, pleaded not guilty and said he constantly torments her.
She was put on $10,000 bail and he was ordered to post a total of $123,000 surety, and the two of them have to be back in Court on April 15.
