THE Central Islamic Organisation of Guyana, in keeping with its objective and mandate, continues to offer assistance to Guyanese especially the less fortunate, through the generous donations from sponsors. In the past two weeks, assistance has been given to five persons.
According to a statement yesterday from CIOG President Mr. Fazeel M. Ferouz, the total cost of these donations is US$30,000 (Gy$6M).
Mr. Ferouz said these persons will receive treatment in Trinidad & Tobago, Canada and India.
The beneficiaries include 13-year-old Mohamed Shaheed of Herstelling, East Bank Demerara; and Paula Ann Cottom, age12, of East Ruimveldt. Both Shaheed and Cottom will undergo surgeries for eyes in Trinidad.
Randy Cameron, age 17, of New Amsterdam, Berbice will undergo open heart surgery in India.
Two other cases for which sponsorship has been approved include that of 18 months old Sayied Phillips of Le Resouvenir, East Coast Demerara who is suffering from a heart disease and will undergo surgery in India; and Ms. Bibi Zamiena Kennedie of Bushlot, West Coast Berbice who has a tumor in her eyes. Kennedie will travel to Canada for surgery.
Mr. Ferouz said CIOG would like to thank all its donors and supporters who have contributed to this worthy cause.
“We urge and encourage you to support us and support these worthy causes,” the CIOG President said.
