Surinamese man died from gunshot injury : – autopsy finds

A post-mortem performed on the body of Surinamese national Lucien Agard, who was found dead in front of his home on March 1, determined that he died from shock and haemorrhage inflicted by gunshot injury.

The post-mortem was performed by pathologist Dr Vivekanand Brigmohan at the Skeldon Hospital mortuary in Region Six.

Police said yesterday that, following the homicide, several persons of interest were detained for questioning but were later released; and, so far, no arrests have been made, but investigations are continuing.

Agard, 30, late of Number 59 Village, Corentyne, Berbice, had left to go to a nearby shop, but was later found dead on the roadway in front of his residence. The father of three was killed at about 19:40 hours, and several men reportedly fled the scene shortly after the shooting.

The late Lucien Agard’s background is being investigated, since he, along with a relative, had been fingered in a multi-million-dollar robbery committed at a business place in Berbice sometime ago.
