YOLANDA Charles and Joseph Clarke (no addresses given) were each put on $20,000 when they appeared before Magistrate Zamilla Ali, at Vigilance Court, East Coast Demerara, yesterday. They faced separate charges but related to the same incident.
Charles was charged with stealing one ‘Blackberry Curve’ cell phone, valued $46,000, belonging to Anastacy King while the allegation against Clarke is that he received the instrument knowing it was stolen.
The defendants offered to replace the cell phone but while the virtual complainant agreed, she insisted that the replacement must be of the same specifications and features as the one she lost and some ‘top up’ credit.
However, although Charles and Clarke handed over all that King requested, the case was adjourned. (Odella Patterson)
