Spectacular performances at Clash of the Titans Super Concert 3

THE biggest event of the year, the Clash of the Titans Super Concert 3, pulled its curtains at approximately 4am last Sunday morning at the Guyana National Stadium after a number of spectacular performances by all of the artistes.

altIt was undoubtedly one of the best concerts in recent times. The highlight of the evening, however, was the seductive performance by the Karma Band headed by Ravi B and the dazzling performance by the JMC 3Veni band, led by KI Persaud, both coming out of Trinidad and Tobago.
It was a magnificent spectacle, especially when the multi-coloured lights from the ceiling of the stage created a kaleidoscope, making the atmosphere look almost magical.
As the Karma band appeared on stage, the thunderous screams from the more than 30,000 fans drowned out the sound system. And as promised, the pair delivered with charisma and style.
The energetic Ravi B opened his performance with his hit single “Guyana”, followed by some new hits including “Prescription” and some of the older ones such as “Ah Drinka”, “Dularie”.alt
The audience couldn’t decide whether the highlight of his performance was when he was serenading a young woman from the crowd on stage, as he poured his heart of music out to her, or the captivating moment when he joined with soca duo JW and Blaze and came on stage with a jacket that emitted fireworks, which left the audience quite astonished.
His energetic performance was backed by Karma’s own Chutney Queen of Trinidad and Tobago, Nisha B and the ever popular Gregory – together they delivered hits both old and new, keeping the crowd in awe as the trio entertained with the “Harlem Shake”,  “Gangnam Style” and then back to  chutney and soca hits.
Meanwhile, the JMC 3Veni band which came out last, as they were the previous winners of the “Clash of the Titans 2” concert, put out quite a vigorous show as lead singer KI Persaud took the stage with band member Nishard M and Ranjeev, the Heartbreaker.
KI rocked the Guyana National Stadium. It was steamy and pure high energy kindling his fans. After singing some of his tunes, he introduced Ranjeev, the Heartbreaker, who rendered several Bollywood filmy renditions which were well appreciated by the audience.
With a steamy performance from Nishard M, the girls went berserk as he too lived up to expectations as one of the most talented upcoming stars in the music industry.
After the performance by the Heartbreaker and Nishard, it was time to party with the king. From soca to chutney hits, he had the crowd sweating and feting like crazy. As usual, he gave his best performance and nothing else, leaving the audience craving more.
The band sang their original hits, both old and new, such as “Mr. Bartender”, “Friends for the Night”, “Toting Feelings” “Tequila”, “Black and White”, among many other chutney, soca and classical Indian hits.
The show started at approximately 8:00pm with the Shakti Strings Band setting a hot pace for the night.   They ‘popped’ some popular Indian, English, chutney, and soca flavours, and set the momentum with their groovy sounds.
Next was Trinidadian singer Rishma Ramlall and her dancers, who dished out a few filmy songs, followed by Guyana’s own Terry Gajraj. His melodious voice touched the hearts of the thousands who were at the stadium. He sang some of the popular hits, including “Guyana Baboo” and “Somattie”, among others.
Regional artistes Saleem “Stinky” Beharry and Adesh Samaroo performed for about 30 minutes each, with Samaroo singing his heart out to the Guyanese audience, giving them his hits like “Rajin Dhar Jeem Jeem Jooma” and his newest hit single “Twenty-one” and “Stinky”, as well as his newest single “Chupke Chupke”. During the show, there were also a few excellent dance pieces by the Ishara Dance School.
The ever blazing, breathtaking Mahendra Ramkellawan also joined the act, launching his new single, “Doh mind meh buisness” and “Gungalalay”, among his other hits such as the ever popular “Buss a chune” and “Dem ah watch meh”. He made his entrance with spectacular fireworks as he distributed CDs with his hits to the audience.
During his performance, he was backed by the Ishara Dancers as well as the newest addition to his act, “Rasta Man”. “Rasta Man” started out with his perfect Michael Jackson impersonation and then switched to the local hits as he danced to tunes put out by Ramkellawan, leaving the audience craving for more.
The energetic Adrian Dutchin also took the stage, bringing hit after hit, and ending with a bouncy interaction with a member of the audience who assisted him with his rendition of his hit single “Jook”.  Dutchin had the crowd on their feet as he delivered a vigorous “wining session” with the young lady on stage.
The show was emceed by television personality WR Reaz with his usual appeal. He was helped along by popular emcee “Vic” from Canada. The Clash of the Titans 3 Super Concert was indeed a success and patrons must be looking out for another in 2014.
At the end of the show this publication asked some of the persons who attended for their opinions and most of them had the view that Ravi B and Karma rightfully took their place as the winners of the clash, giving reigning champion KI and his band JMC 3Veni “a run for their money.”
