Milo Schools Football Competition resumes today

THE PETRA-organised Milo Under-20 Schools Football Competition resumes this weekend with tripleheaders to be contested today and tomorrow as the preliminary round wraps up.

Today Lodge Secondary will face Dolphin Secondary in the opening match from 12:00hrs then the Guyana Education Trust College (GETC) battle with David Rose and St Winefride’s tackle Carmel in the final showdown of the day.
On Sunday, Chase’s Academy will go head to head with North Ruimveldt Secondary in the first match at 12:00hrs while New Campbellville Secondary challenge Richard Ishmael then the day wraps up with Central Secondary locking horns with Sophia Special School.
After the final round of matches on Sunday the round-of-16 will be the next part of the competition which is the knockout round. The top two teams from each of the six groups along with the best four of the third place finishers will advance to that round.
Currently, Charlestown Secondary (nine points) and North Georgetown (6 points) command Group A with Christ Church (3 points) and Ascension (0) trailing and in Group B, Tucville (9 points) and St George’s Secondary (6 points) head the Group with Tutorial (3 points) and St John’s College (0 points) behind.
Group C has a tight race ongoing with South Ruimveldt, Bishops’ High School and Queen’s College on seven, six and four points, respectively. Cummings Lodge are in the cellar position and yet to score.
Group D has Lodge and Charlestown Secondary Schools on six points each while GETC and David Rose are yet to acquire a point, while for Group E, North Ruimveldt have six points while Chase’s Academy and Carmel Secondary have three points each and St Winefride’s yet to get off the mark.
New Campbellville Secondary and Richard Ishmael both have six points and are on top of Group F as Central High and Sophia Special School are without a point.
