KISHNA Narine, 51, a businessman of Lot 106 Mon Repos Pasture, appeared before Magistrate Alex Moore at Sparendaam Court, also on East Coast Demerara, yesterday and pleaded not guilty to four charges.
The offences are careless driving, driving without care for other road users, driving an uncertified vehicle without fitness and failing to stop after an accident, all allegedly committed on Sunday, February 24.
It is alleged that he carelessly drove the uncertified PEE 9710, without fitness and failed to stop after Jairam Narine was injured.
Defence Counsel Gwendolyn Bristol said the virtual complainant and the defendant are relatives but not on speaking terms and she requested reasonable bail since a settlement will not be possible because of the malice between the two parties.
Narine was ordered to post $100,000 surety and the case will be called, again, on April 8.
