THE partly decomposed body of a man bearing bullet wounds was yesterday found at Plaisance Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara. That body was identified as that of 27-year-old Gary De Florimonte, also called Saddam, who had gone missing since Wednesday night when gunshots were reportedly heard in the area, residents said.
Reports reaching this newspaper are that a woman discovered the body in a clump of ‘wild eddo’ leaves behind a building in the Plaisance Squatting Area at around 6:00 hrs, and raised an alarm.
There were no reports of any rounds being found at or anywhere near the scene where the body was discovered.
A police press release has said that Gary De Florimonte was before the courts on several charges of robbery under arms, and a charge of discharging a loaded firearm with intent. He was also wanted for questioning into recent reports of robberies, and threats involving the use of a firearm.
The body is at the Lyken Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination, as police continue their investigations.
