$912,000 burglary defendant remanded through February 27

RAVIN Persaud, a construction worker, of Lower Cara Cara, Mackenzie, was remanded to prison yesterday, on a break and enter and larceny charge.

He appeared before Magistrate Sueanna Lovell and pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said, on February 12, at Wisroc Housing Scheme, Wismar, also in Linden, he broke and entered the home of Sidafa Haynes and stole $502,000 cash, a $50,000 gold band, a gold finger ring valued $50,000, a $50,000 pair of gold earrings, a gold chain worth $50,000, one play station priced at $170,000, a $28,000 cellular phone and a $12,000 pair of shoes, making a total loss of $912,000.
Police Sergeant Alexis David-Hossanah, prosecuting, successful objected to bail for the defendant, pointing out that the investigations are ongoing.
The case will be called, again, on February 27.
