BRITISH consultancy firm Capita Symonds, which was appointed to undertake several projects as part of the Guyana Police Force modernization, has presented its report to the Home Affairs Ministry.
The ministry, in a release, stated that a final draft report was submitted on Monday during which the Minister of Home Affairs and representatives of the ministry, the Police Commissioner and his change team and other senior officers were present.
The main objectives of the recommendations in the report are to improve accountability, professionalism, confidence by the public in the Force and confidence among the force’s members, the ministry’s release said.
The proposals are currently being studied by the government, the release added.
After attending a series of meetings in Guyana, the firm was appointed by the Home Affairs Ministry. Representatives of the firm arrived in Guyana on January 27 and a contract was signed on January 28. It began its work immediately, after which an inception report was accepted by Government.
