TWENTY-YEAR-OLD Cindy Lorrimer (no address given) pleaded not guilty to charges of simple larceny, before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, yesterday. One charge alleged that, between January 30 and February 6, the defendant stole costume jewellery valued $25,000, gold jewels worth $90,000 and $4,000 cash, all belonging to Rajwattie Parsram.
The other allegation accused her of stealing $3,000, also from Parsram, on February 7.
Police Sergeant Seon Blackman, prosecuting, had objected to bail, for the reason that, the defendant is the domestic maid of the virtual complainant (VC).
The prosecutor said, after the VC discovered that her things were missing, she decided to put her initials on three $1,000 Guyana currency notes and leave them in one of her pockets. Afterwards, the money was found in the defendant’s possession.
However, the defendant was put on a total of $100,000 bail and is to be back in court on March 1.
