GAVIN Rice (no address given) appeared before Magistrate Leron Daley yesterday, charged with simple larceny. He pleaded guilty to the offence, with explanation, admitting that, last December 30, he stole one microwave valued $20,000 and mats worth $11,000, property of Jessell Rice.
The defendant told the court that the virtual complainant is his niece and, that day, he had scolded her over her behaviour and she became annoyed and threw away his kerosene stove.
The man said he retaliated by throwing the microwave and mats into a nearby trench but did not steal them.
The magistrate, after hearing his narrative, entered a not guilty plea for the defendant, granted him $30,000 bail and postponed the case to March 5.
