Ms. KATHERINA ROSHANA emerged as Miss India Guyana 2013 after competing with 10 other beautiful young ladies at the Princess Hotel last Wednesday. Ms. Shaniza Haniff was placed 1st runner up with Ms. Arti Deodat, Ms. Cheryl Cheong and Ms. Sue Lim placing 2nd, 3rd and 4th runner-ups respectively.     Ms. Katherina Roshana, age 22, will be representing Guyana at the international Miss India Worldwide Pageant scheduled to be held in Malaysia during the month of April, 2013.  This is the fifth consecutive year that Guyana will be represented at this international pageant.

From 25 applications received, 15 persons were shortlisted based on talent credentials and other prerequisites, of which 11 actually competed for the crown.  

The judging was done by a distinguished panel comprising Chief Judge, Sonia Noel, Fashion Designers, Derek Moore Roshini Boodhoo, Miss India Guyana 2011, Devi Ramcharita, Miss Sari Queen 2008, two times Chutnet Queen, Fiona Singh, businessman Anil Beharry, and Mr. Guptar.  
The delegates were judged on the basis of  three segments of performances.  The first was the English Wear Segment followed by the Indian Wear Category.  An interactive, Question & Answer session with the top five was then conducted to determine the actual winner.  
The scores obtained were tallied and reviewed by an independent auditor.

Crowning and Prize:
The new queen will be crowned by the outgoing Miss India Guyana 2012 and Miss India Worldwide 2012, Alana Seebarran on Saturday February 9, 2013 at the Roraima Ballroom, Princess Hotel.  Along with the crowning of Miss India Guyana 2013, the audience will be entertained with dances by APSARA, together with a fashion show and songs by Andy Rattan (top 5 GT&T Jingle 2012). Tickets will be sold at the Princess Hotel only.
