MAGISTRATE Adela Nagamootoo, on Wednesday, ordered that Kuldip Ramrattan do four days community service or, alternatively, spend one month in prison as the penalty for threatening behaviour.
Ramrattan’s son, on January 27 last, went to their Betsy Ground, East Canje home and told his mother that his father’s motor car was parked in front of his ‘sweet woman’s home.
The defendant, who was later taken home by his son, became annoyed when his wife informed him of what she learnt. As a result, he picked up a piece of wood and threatened to beat her. However, he was prevented from doing so by the son who intervened.
Apologising in open Court, Ramrattan promised that there would not be a recurrence.
However, the magistrate directed that during his lunch period for the next four days, he subjecs himself to community service at New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court and failure to do so will see him being imprisoned for one month. (Jeune Bailey Vankeric)
