Parmal Trading, a wholesale goods store at the Industrial Site, Georgetown, was on Monday robbed by two armed men who went off with $1.3M in cash, a cell phone and a cheque book. Crime Chief Seelall Persaud told this publication that the incident took place at about 20:00 hrs, when the store was about to close.
He added that the robbers barged into the store and held the owner and a salesman at gunpoint, and escaped on foot with the cash and items.
The police were alerted but the men had made good their escape before the lawmen arrived.
The owner of the store declined to speak to the media yesterday.
