THE 29 participants of Republic Bank’s (RB) fifth annual Youth Link Apprenticeship Programme for the period 2012/2013 are currently undergoing on-the-job and specialized training in various departments of the bank in branches countrywide.
This was disclosed on Monday by the Bank’s Communication and Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Jonelle Dummett in a telephone interview with the Guyana Chronicle.
According to her, the apprentices were also involved in staff activities, such as the Christmas party and Diwali pageant.
They will be introduced to the element of care and compassion for the less fortunate through the ‘Care-A-Van’, for which Ms Dummett said details have not been determined as yet.
She indicated that those 29 young men and women would also experience a day of fun and relaxation on a field trip, for which final arrangements have not as yet been made.
According to her, the young people are currently preparing to do a presentation for which they had to choose a topic on which to present, and they would accordingly be judged and awarded prizes, such as the ‘best speaker’ prize.
This Fifth Annual Youth Link Apprenticeship programme was launched on Monday, October 15, 2012, and will conclude in May of this year. Upon completion of the programme, there will be a graduation ceremony, and certificates will be distributed to all the successful participants.
Over the past four years, 92 young men and women have enjoyed the experience of being part of the working world over a seven-month period with this programme. These 29 apprentices will bring the total number of participants of the programme to date to 121.
