Lawlessness continues as… Runaway car ploughs into Cummings Lodge house –thankfully, no one injured

THE lawlessness on the country’s roadways continues to be a major issue for both pedestrians, motorists, and, in some cases, property owners. In the past, there have been several accidents wherein motorists careened off public thoroughfares and into the yards, homes and fence of some persons.

altYesterday morning, there was yet another such case.
Traffic ranks in the police C Division were searching for a driver whose motorcar broke through a fence and slammed into the home of an East Coast Demerara family before he/she fled the scene, leaving behind his/her motor car, PLL 7179.
At approximately 05.30hrs, yesterday, Cummings Lodge residents on the Railway Embankment awoke to a loud sound, and upon looking outside observed that a car had split a papaw tree in half before slamming into two houses.

One woman, Shellon Kandhai, said she regarded the accident so seriously that she gathered her children and huddled into a safe corner.
The woman said she had awoken to her children screaming that someone had come to kill them; and she had heard noises outside, so she peered outside, only to see the car in her house.
The woman estimates her damages in the multiple thousands of dollars, and would like the matter to be resolved quickly, because she operates a shop and that is where she makes her living.

The police are continuing their investigations.
