Missing GEA employee… Police suspect cannot be found, hope fading for anxious relatives

THE Guyana Police Force is searching for a male friend of the missing Guyana Energy Agency employee Levoy “Lee” Taljit, to be questioned regarding the disappearance of the 25-year-old, who, since Christmas Eve night last, has not been seen or heard from.

The Guyana Chronicle has been reliably informed that police investigators checked the missing man’s phone, and had planned to meet with a friend of his who lives along the Soesdyke/Linden Highway, where his vehicle was recovered last week.
This publication was told by a source close to the investigation that the man whom the police are now seeking cannot be located, and that searches and checks with his family to ascertain his whereabouts have proven to be futile, since no one seems to know where to find the man.

Friends of the man in whom police are interested have also reportedly been questioned; and the Chronicle has learnt that Taljit’s girlfriend and his co-workers have also been questioned in connection with his disappearance. Taljit’s girlfriend had reportedly gone out with him earlier on Christmas Eve Day.
It is not clear whether the Guyana Police Force intends to issue a wanted bulletin soon for the arrest of the man in whom they are interested, and it is also not clear whether the police have any immediate plans to question persons who had to come into contact with Levoy “Lee” Taljit when conducting business with the GEA recently.

The information now emerging regarding this case comes days after the police knew that they wanted to question someone regarding Taljit’s disappearance. However the force remains tight-lipped on this new development.
A relative of Taljit’s explained yesterday that “the slate remains clean on the man’s whereabouts”, and relatives remain very concerned and very anxious. The police have reportedly assured Taljit’s relatives that investigations are ongoing, and the search for the man is also ongoing.
Levoy Taljit went missing on December 24th after he left to do late night shopping. He reportedly had to pick up an aunt to accompany her to do some shopping, and when he did not return home, family members became concerned.
On Christmas Day, the man’s family launched several search parties, which went looking for him in various parts of Georgetown and along the West and East Coasts of Demerara, but those searches came up empty-handed.
Last week, police discovered the man’s badly vandalised vehicle, but there has been neither sight of nor sound from the man.
