POPULAR cricket journalist and broadcaster Christopher Martin-Jenkins (CMJ) has passed away after a battle with cancer at the age of 67.

Martin-Jenkins was best known for his role on Test Match Special, which he joined in 1973, and continued to work for until early 2012 when he was diagnosed with terminal cancer.
CMJ also wrote for a host of publications on the game, although he was best known as the Chief Cricket Correspondent for The Times between 1999 and 2008.
His colleague on TMS Jonathan Agnew broke the news via Twitter.
“Desperately sad to tell you that CMJ died peacefully this morning,” Agnew wrote.
Tributes to Martin-Jenkins have quickly come in from leading figures in the sport.
“Very sad to hear of the death of the ‘Major’,” said Sir Ian Botham, “Our thoughts are with the family. A true gentleman!”
“RIP Christopher Martin-Jenkins,” added former England cricketer Graeme Fowler. “A magnificent writer, broadcaster and man. The world has lost a gentleman. Cricket has lost a wonderful voice.”
