Sixty-five year-old Maise Preville, of 298 East Ruimveldt, went missing yesterday from her home, with her jewellery and other valuables left behind. The woman’s relatives said that they went into her room yesterday morning and found a farewell note, her dentures, jewellery, bank card and other personal documents.
The woman, in her note made it clear that items must be handed over to her granddaughter who lives with her at the East Ruimveldt home.
One relative, Sharon Adolphus, told this publication that she spoke to the woman on the phone Sunday morning. She said that the woman, who is the grandmother of her daughter, told her that she had some things for her granddaughter and that she should pass and collect same.
She explained that the woman cautioned her not to let Sunday pass without uplifting the items.
Meanwhile, the woman’s granddaughter, Mellisa Bess, said that they are of the view that the woman may be having trouble dealing with the death of her sister who passed away last Tuesday and is yet to be buried.
The women said that they have since launched a search for the elderly woman, checking with the morgue, hospitals, restaurants and other places.
They are asking anyone with information to contact the family on telephone numbers.
