I am woman
Forged from the fires of adversity
Honed by the agonies of destiny
I am woman
I nurse with the milk of my endurance
Wise men and great leaders of nations
I am woman
I fashion the shape of world affairs
Though cumbered with abundant cares
I am woman
My womb has cradled generations
Of great thinkers who carve global dispensations
I am woman
Warriors were babes suckling at my breast
Wherein the strength their victories invest
I am woman
I shape the world with my motherly care
Nurtured leaders to duties without forswear
I am woman
Disdaining rest till my tasks are done
Not stilling my hands till past the sleep of sun
I am woman
Battered and shattered by stormy seas of life
Resolutely enduring troubles and strife
I am woman
Through pain and gore birthed sons and daughters
Throughout the ages Mankind’s propagators
I am woman
Now gray, faltering, weak and blind
Weary and old, but I shaped Mankind
