Horrific Pomeroon River accident kills spirit of Christmas in Charity

FOR Beverly and her husband Albert Narine, the Christmas time joy has been turned into sorrow as they grieve the loss of their beautiful 10-year-old daughter, Amerita, and 14-year-old son, Rajkumar.

altBefore the tragic accident, the family was a happy unit sustained on love, happiness and optimism for the festive season. Beverly had plans to take all her seven children to the Charity market and the Alfro Alphonso five-storey shopping complex to buy them special gifts for Christmas, but the sudden death of her two children has shattered her plans, leaving them too broken to ever be put back together.
Beverly said Amerita was a star, who was always obedient and had a bright future ahead of her. She said the child attended the Charity Primary School and did well in her classes; while Raj, who was also a star in his own right, attended the Charity Secondary School.alt
Beverly had started cleaning and decorating her home for the festive season, but said she could never, in her wildest dream, ever imagine Raj and Amerita being dead one week before Christmas.
“It’s a shock! All my plans are shattered…Every Christmas will be painful. My two children are gone, taken away in such brutal manner; their innocent lives are lost forever,” Beverly sadly declared.
Beverly, her husband and other relatives, like the entire Charity community, are grieving, crying, and asking, “Why Lord? Why did it have to be innocent Amerita and Raj?”
altThe grieving mother said the children were most enthusiastic to spend the Christmas holidays with their grandmother at Abrams Creek. Amerita had really wanted to see her grandmother, and she, as mother, had refused to send the child, but after Amerita begged her, she decided to let her go. But it never crossed her mind that that would have been the last time she would have seen her children alive.
For Beverly, Albert and her five surviving children, there is no Christmas, no rejoicing, no fine dining; nothing but tears of anguish and regret.alt
While others will be rejoicing, the family will be reliving the horrific accident that took the lives of their two family members on altTuesday, 18th December at 17:30 hrs.
The horrific accident also claimed the lives of four other persons, and one person is still missing.
