First Lady hosts Christmas party for Region 4 children

FIRST LADY Deolatchmee Ramotar yesterday brought Christmas joy and laughter to about 200 children of Region 4, Demerara/Mahaica, as she distributed gifts and other festive goodies on the lawns of State House at Main and New Market Streets, Georgetown.

altThe children, all dressed for the occasion, with parents in tow, turned up at the venue all expectant and excited.
The programme got underway when the president’s wife received a resounding welcome from the large group of children gathered there.
She was introduced by Attorney -at -Law Jaya Manickchand, who stated that the party was organised by the First Lady’s Foundation which is focused on promoting family-related activities to improve the lives of children.
The First Lady in a brief address to the children, welcomed them to the party on behalf of President Donald Ramotar and urged them to enjoy themselves.alt
She stressed the importance of children being showered with love and affection, as only then would they be able to pass love onto their children and the future generation.

She noted that as a mother of three children, she has always provided for them to the best of her ability, and she encouraged all parents to do the same.
altThe children, before receiving their gifts were given an opportunity to participate in four competitions, including singing and dancing.

The First Lady also congratulated and expressed her gratitude to all the parents who brought out their children to the event
Later, the children were offered refreshments and they participated in games, collected toys and were treated to face-painting.
