Haslyn Hodge murder trial sees new development today

A mixed jury was yesterday empanelled at the Demerara Assizes to try accused Haslyn Hodge, called Troy or Kyte, for the alleged murder of Tamesha Riddle, the mother of his children.

After Corporal Krishandat Singh testified yesterday about attending Riddle’s post-mortem and being informed of her cause of death by the Pathologist, Mrs. Konyo Thompson, the prosecutor, applied for an adjournment of the case to today for continuation of the trial.
Justice Navindra Singh, presiding, admonished the jury not to even discuss the case among themselves, but to keep an open mind at all times.

The prosecution is hoping to call 11 witnesses at the trial; but, according to reports, a new development is expected today.
Haslyn Hodge is accused of having murdered Tamesha Riddle on April 4, 2008 in the County of Demerara.
Assisting in the prosecution is Miss Dhanika Singh, while Attorney-at-Law Mr. Peter Hugh is defending.
