THE Guyana Sports Development Foundation (GSDF) will be running off a Female Under-21 Developmental Football Tournament on Sunday, December 30, at the Ministry of Education Sports Complex, Carifesta Avenue. The Guyana Football Federation (GFF)-supported event gets under way at noon. Main sponsors of this tournament are Scotiabank and Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL), along with the Guyana Football Referees Council (GFRC) that will be providing referees.
The teams expected to participate are Berbice, West Demerara and the Scotiabank/Pepsi All Stars. Linden had previously indicated a willingness to participate but opted out due to various reasons. However, the organisers are trying to get Rupununi to participate while Georgetown and Bartica are unable to field sides.
Game one kicks off at 12:00hrs between West Demerara and the All Stars Team, the second game starts at 14:00hrs and the final game starts at 16:00hrs.
If Rupununi participate then the fixture will be readjusted. Games will be played for a period of one hour each match with points awarded to the winning teams and drawn matches.
Prizes will be distributed to the winner, first runner-up and second runner-up.
This tournament may be an annual affair during this period with more teams taking part including East Bank, East Demerara, Linden, Bartica and Georgetown.
