THE Headmistress of Richard Ishmael Secondary School, Ms. Chandroutie Persaud has said that the current arrangement to accommodate students and teachers of the flea infested Queen’s College (QC), in its building on Woolford Avenue, also in Georgetown, will continue throughout the present school term.
She told the Guyana Chronicle yesterday that the shift system is working well and all the students are receiving their full hours of schooling.
Persaud added that it is, in no way, affecting the delivery of the curriculum and the students and parents of her school have willingly accepted it.
The headmistress said this is because they are aware that it is temporary and will enable the QC students to continue receiving their tutelage.
The current timetable sees the students and teachers of Richard Ishmael attending from 07:30 hrs to 12:15 hrs while those from QC between 12:30 hrs and 16:30 hrs.
It began on November 27 and was, initially, scheduled to last up to November 30. However, the re-occupation of the QC edifice was further postponed after advice was received from both the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Agriculture.
According to Headmistress Persaud, only a few parents of her school expressed concern about the double occupancy because they were not previously informed but it was in an effort to reduce the loss of school hours to QC students and teachers.
