WE, the residents of West Demerara, would like to express our disgust with Division D of the Guyana Police Force. Many times several residents made complaints regarding noise nuisance to a number of stations and no officer ever responded.
The officers always inform the residents that there are no patrols; yet the patrols can be seen traversing the road. One makes a report and seven hours after the same response is given: ‘there is no patrol’.
The residents are seeking answers as to the response time on receipt of complaint, what kind of information is the complainant required to furnish and how many patrol vehicles are assigned to the Division.
There are also widespread allegations that ranks from especially the Vreed-en-Hoop and La Grange stations are involved in a lot of ‘bribe-taking’ and corrupt activities, hence the feeling that citizens genuine interests will never be addressed.
It is time to rotate the Station Sergeants and discipline those officers found culpable of corruption.
