CHIEF Executive Officer of Guyana Power & Light (GPL), Mr. Bharrat Dindyal on Monday said dramatic work is needed to improve quality in the entire electricity supply system throughout West Coast, East Coast, West Bank and East Bank Demerara, as well as Berbice and Essequibo.

However, a redesigned network structure would be put in place to deal with those stealing current from GPL, he disclosed.
Dindyal added that plans are in train to curb this disgusting behaviour of citizens intent on benefitting from free power.
He emphasised the importance of quickly rectifying this problem and said there is a particular area well known for this practice and it must be addressed first.
According to him, with the festive season approaching, Guyanese should take the necessary precautions and not overload outlets.
He warned that lighted decorations getting between drapes and curtains can become overheated and result in fire.
