POLICE say that quick response by ranks following an armed robbery committed in Robb Street, Georgetown on Security Officer Vincent Da Silva, 61, of South Road, Bourda, at about 18:50 hrs yesterday, resulted in the arrest of a suspect and seizure of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
Investigations revealed that the Bounty Meat Centre employee was in motor car PNN 2145 transporting an undisclosed amount of cash to a commercial bank, while being armed with a .32 semi-automatic Beretta pistol and ammunition, when he was confronted by three perpetrators, who blocked the path of his motor vehicle with a push cart and held him at gunpoint.
They took away the cash and escaped in the victim’s motor vehicle.
Quick police response led to a suspect being found in possession of an unlicensed .32 revolver with five matching rounds. He is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
At about 19:00 hrs on Tuesday night, motor car PNN 2145 was found abandoned at Stone Avenue, Campbellville.
Police investigations are in progress.
