ANSA McAL launches 9th Carib Soca Monarch competition –extraordinary cash prizes on offer

THE Carib Soca Monarch Team at Ansa McAL Trading Limited is thrilled to announce the launch of the 9th Carib Soca Monarch competition as they gear for the spirit of Mashramani 2013.

The event is expected to attract pulsating music, electrifying performances, and the lyrical sensations that have become synonymous with the Carib Soca Monarch competition. This year will be no exception in that regard.
“Last year’s competition was dubbed ‘one of the best of all time’, and we are promising that this year’s competition will be even better, because of the multi-talented, vibrant artistes that we have in our midst,” the Carib Soca Monarch team has said.

The proposed dates for action are as follows: Semi-Finals to be held on February 2nd, 2013 at Linden, and the Finals on February 16th, 2013 in Georgetown.
The first prize will remain Gy$1.5M, with Gy$500,000 and Gy$250,000 for the second and third-place prizes respectively. In addition, there will be a People’s Choice Award prize and appearance fee for contestants that make it to the finals.
Entries close on January 3, 2013 and no late entries will be accepted. Entry forms are available at the Mashramani Secretariat located in the Ministry of Culture, Youth & Sport Building on Main Street, Georgetown, and at the ANSA McAL Trading Ltd Head Office at Beterverwagting, East Coast Demerara.
Persons are reminded that the rules of the competition are as follows: only persons over 18 years old can enter; each composition must be an original, and must not be longer than five minutes; No composition must have been entered in any other song competition(s); tempo of each composition must be over 95 beats per minute; each composition will be judged on lyrics, melody, rendition, diction and musical arrangement; and no composition must contain any scandalous, libellous, or lewd material.
The Carib Soca Monarch competition was first hosted in 2004, and had a successful run until 2010; after which it took a year’s hiatus before returning in 2012 with an explosion that did not disappoint its many anxious fans.
