SIR Ronald Sanders, Guyana-born member of the Commonwealth Eminent Persons Group, has been awarded the Order of Australia for his “service to Australian relations”. In an official announcement over the weekend, the Government of Australia said the honorary award was for Sir Ronald’s service, “particularly concerning Commonwealth issues and advancing the interest of small developing states of the Caribbean Region”.
An international consultant, writer and former diplomat, he was previously knighted by Britain. Sir Ronald has some three decades of active involvement in issues involving the Caribbean within the Commonwealth and the wider international community.
