The Electricity Technical team, prior to its appointment in August, met and held talks at its Colgrain House Office. However, this meeting was brought to a standstill with the resignation of its Chairman, Narvon Persaud.
“Since the resignation of the Chairman, the Government side and the Region Ten Delegation have been meeting and working on new models to appoint chairpersons, and to have the two committees back into operation,” Dr. Luncheon said.
The two technical teams, Electricity and Economic, were established to review the Linden electricity tariffs shortly after the protests in the mining town which left three persons dead and several injured.
President Donald Ramotar had instructed that the teams be set up to review all available and practical options and implications, and move the process along.
He had also pledged the administration’s commitment to do whatever it could to help the residents of Linden.
Subsequently, the work of the Electricity Technical Team, set up in August, was halted when Chairman Narvon Persaud tendered his resignation. (GINA)
