THE preliminary inquiry (PI) into charge against the policemen accused of murdering Agricola youth Shaquille Grant continued yesterday before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry. Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, called six more witnesses to testify against Corporal Terrence Wallace. The other two accused, Corporal Warren Blue and Special Constable Jamal Lewis, are yet to be arrested.
Romel Bollers and Troy Greenidge, for whom arrest warrants were issued because they failed to attend the previous hearing, gave their evidence-in-chief and Prosecutor Telford was granted permission for Bollers to display injuries he, allegedly, suffered on the day of the shooting.
Detective Superintendent Hugh Jessamy, Corporal Eon Isaacs, Detective Superintendent Chalmers and Sergeant Aubrey Bowman all testified yesterday, too.
In the absence of Defence Counsel Hukumchand, the accused declined to cross-examine the other witnesses but asked Bollers one question.
At the request of the prosecutor, more warrants were sent out for Constable Persaud, Corporal Harry and Lance Corporal Canterbury, who had all been warned to attend but were absent.
The PI continues today.
