At Demerara Assizes… : ‘Picture Boy’ declares innocence from the dock

CYON Collier called ‘Picture Boy’, on trial at the Demerara Assizes for a double murder, declared his innocence  on Tuesday.
In a statement from the dock, he said: “Your Honour, am innocent of this offence. I never shot Sugar nor Alo. I never used an AK-47 or any other gun. “I did not own nor did I ride a motorcycle. I was in Linden working in September 2006 and only came to Bachelor’s Adventure on 4th October, 2006 when my sister told me that the police were searching for me and that she wanted to get money to retain a lawyer.
“I was never at a domino game with ‘Silver’. He is lying on me. I was never asked by police Kingston where the gun was nor did I take the police to a bedroom of a house at Bachelor’s Adventure.
“I was severely beaten by the police to sign a paper for which I had no knowledge.
“I developed a swollen scrotum from the beating from the police which requires surgery.”
His narrative followed advice from Defence Counsel Lyndon Amsterdam, who him following the options given him by Justice Diana Insanally.
The defence called one witness and is expected to call another when the trial continues.
The prosecution, led by Senior State Counsel Judith Gildharie–Mursalin, led testimony that, on September 23, the accused rode up on a motor cycle and shot dead two brothers, Ray Walcott called Sugar and Carl Andrews called ‘Alo’.
