Suspect arrested, reportedly confessed to killing lover

FORTY-TWO-YEAR-OLD  Sean Paul Singh, now in police custody, is likely to be charged with the murder of 39 year old Indranie Sugrim whom he allegedly killed on Sunday at her 503 Block Y Cummings Lodge Home. The man is being held at the Sparendaam Police Station on the East Coast of Demerara. Sources close to the investigation told the Guyana Chronicle that the man was apprehended on Sunday evening by a group of community policing officers who were on patrol in the area,
The police source also informed this publication that the man has since confessed to ranks that he did murder the woman. He also told the police that there was a scuffle between the two before the woman was murdered.
On Sunday at approximately 11:00hrs Singh allegedly entered the home of Sugrim with a knife and began to assault her resulting in her death. Reports on Sunday suggested that persons in the area, including Sugrim’s  sister, heard her screams for help but failed to go to her rescue.
Sugrim’s sister on Sunday told the Guyana Chronicle that the couple was seeing each other for the past five years and those five years were marred with arguments and fights. She said that the man was always abusive to her sister and pointed out that it was because of that behaviour that her sister would usually keep her gate chained and locked.
