Drug eradication exercise yields marijuana but no arrests – police

THE Guyana Police Force (GPF) carried out a drug eradication exercise in Berbice last week, destroying a cannabis sativa (marijuana) field but making no arrest. Police said it happened between 06:00 hrs and 16:30 hrs on November 23, during which three fields under cultivation, with about 9,000 plants weighing 20,000 kilogrammes were found.
The destroyed plants were between two and nine feet in height.
An abandoned camp, with some 3,000 marijuana seedlings was also discovered along with an improvised shot gun, police said.
