Board of Inquiry established for missing soldier

A GUYANA Defence Force (GDF) Coast Guard rank is presumed drowned after he fell into the Atlantic Ocean in the vicinity of Pomeroon River. A GDF press release said the soldier, ordinary rating Darwin Simon was stationed at the floating base in Pomeroon River and is missing.
He and two other ranks had just finished mooring their boat alongside the base at midnight on Sunday when it is reported he fell into the river and efforts to save him were unsuccessful.
Searches are currently in progress to recover the body and a Board of Inquiry has been established, the release said.
