ORILEY Small, 27, of Lot 6 Ketley Street, Charlestown, Georgetown, faced two charges of robbery under arms before Chief Magistrate, Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday.
He pleaded not guilty to both, which stated that, on November 7, being armed with a gun he robbed Sydney Robinson of one shoulder bag containing items valued $110,000 and Christopher Anthony of valuable worth $13,000. Police Corporal Kerry Bostwick, prosecuting, said the virtual complainants were walking in Russell Street, Charlestown, when the defendant and another person rode beside them.
The prosecutor said Small pointed the gun at Robinson and Anthony and demanded that they hand over their belongings.
When they complied, the gunman escaped but he was positively identified by his victims, the prosecutor said, requesting that substantial bail be set.
Defence Counsel Adrian Thompson declared it is hard to comprehend that the defendant would commit a robbery in his own neigbourhood and indicated that the identification parade will be challenged.
Small was ordered to post $300,000 surety and lodge his passport with the police until December 7.
